Synopsis
A personal exploration of the history and mechanisms of moving images. The show placed work on paper from the collection of the Leroy Neiman Center for Print Studies at Columbia University in dialogue with historical and contemporary moving image works, forging new connections among media, timelines, and geographies.

Lotte Reiniger’s (1899-1981) silhouette film Papageno (1935) is projected onto a “Modern Theater” installation conceived for On Point exhibition, and is derived from a drawing made by Reiniger for a modern shadow theater structure, but was never realized.
