Nude and Washing Machine

Synopsis

This work comprises an assemblage of a cubist-style house presented as a two-sided video installation. The front side features fragmented depictions of body parts and domestic objects. On the reverse, viewers discover that the entire structure is animated by a video showing a naked figure holding a washing machine. The video runs for 69 minutes—the full duration of a washing cycle. In the projection onto the sculpture, a birdcage is positioned near the figure’s pubic area, its opening allowing the image to vanish in the genital parts.
